pnw vacation 9.5.2019

Last month I vacationed in the pacific northwest for two wonderful weeks with Berit, my youngest daughter. Here are some pics of that trip. Also, I discovered a new app called Native Land that shows the names of Indigenous groups that once populated the Americas. On some of the photos in this post, I’ve indicated those groups with a 📍.

On my layover at the San Francisco airport, I found this amazing cedar sculpture by Ursula Von Rydingsvard.
We visited the Seattle public library, where there was a great zine exhibit. Here’s one of my favorites:)
Found this beauty in a Seattle restaurant restroom! It’s by Mary Calton.
Beach art at Lincoln Park in Seattle. 📍Duwamish and Puget Sound Salish Territory

Found these animals and shells at low tide off of Heard Road near Campbell River, Vancouver Island.

Rialto Beach, on the coast of Washington. 📍Hoh and Quileute Territory

Ripple Rock is about a 5 mile moderate hike. Our airbnb host told us we were true Canadians after we told her we’d make that hike:)

On Vancouver Island, we stayed at a lovely Airbnb near Black Creek. Our splendid view over the Strait of Georgia included sunrises, sunsets, grazing horses, and a grey whale!

Micro view of the awesome and amazing Hoh Rainforest in Olympic National Park. 📍Hoh and Quinault Territory
Berit soaking in the sights at Cape Flattery, at the northwest tip of Washington. 📍Makah Territory
Another view off of Cape Flattery. So so so amazing! 📍Makah Territory

Stopped in Denver for a couple nights on the way home to spend time with eldest daughter Elly. She turned me on to the Native Land app:)
