Last night, I attended a discussion here in Madison, Wisconsin about fear and safety and vulnerability. This discussion arose out of Donald Trump winning the election for United States President. I know, I know, I’m a middle class white woman living in Madison, Wisconsin – “77 square miles surrounded by reality” – so I don’t really know, or haven’t experienced Fear. Vulnerability. Feeling Unsafe. But I am a curious woman. In last night’s discussion, a comment arose having to do with people who post pictures of (what I understood the commenter thought were inane things) – food, art, etc., and although it wasn’t specifically directed at me, I felt a little guilty about posting pictures of art and anything else that doesn’t have to do with the State of the United States. And immediately my inner crone sassed right back and said “but these are things we LOVE! These are things that make us HAPPY!” I am indeed trying to understand and comprehend our world. I’m trying to do what I can do to voice my small, singular song. I started a list of what I do to participate in bettering society, but won’t list them here. (I’m happy to tell you if you’re interested!) I know I’m not being very articulate about this, but what I’m trying to explain or convey is that art is more important than ever. Feeling and Sating Creativity is more important that ever. So if you want to post a picture of your latest dinner, I want to see it! If you want to post a picture of a sketch on a napkin, DO IT! If you want to show me your latest hula hoop move, I am all over it!
For now, and that’s all there is – RIGHT NOW – here’s what I got: a new bowl that I love.
The last pic has two chicken eggs in the bowl, just to give you an idea of the size. Not too small, not too big, but just right! Thanks for listening. love Love LOVE! to you.

We should talk more about this. Without much thought or my first thought ….I think it is important to continue living our lives – being bold in living our lives and at the same time be visible (and keep our values visible), speak so we will be heard, protest and resist. I will think more about this… Thanks for posting.
I love the bowl – I am assuming matte white with dots of shiny bone??? I am planning to use the same on a vase that may still be in the bisque kiln. Subtle and lovely.

Thanks for your comments, V. One thing I was trying to express is that I think it’s okay to speak, protest, resist, while at the same time maintaining one’s creativity and artistic expression. I’m going to a meeting next week about protest art, so maybe I can come up with ways to combine all of this! And yes you are right – shiny bone dots atop matte white. It is indeed lovely!
